Learn More About Power the South Bay and Power Santa Clara Valley

  • LS Power Grid California has been awarded two important projects by the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) to improve the reliability of the electrical grid in the South Bay area. These projects – Power Santa Clara Valley and Power the South Bay – each provide a new high capacity connection to increase grid resiliency and better control power flows via high-voltage direct current (HVDC) converter stations forming a strong electric system backbone in the region.

  • LS Power’s innovative and consumer-conscious approach has built the company’s reputation as a successful clean energy company. Our investments in American energy infrastructure over the last three decades have increased the reliability and efficiency of electric transmission and generation across the United States, while saving consumers $172 million from 2017 to 2021.

LS Power’s pursuit of energy infrastructure solutions is environmentally focused. In 2022 alone, our electric generation affiliates’ solutions avoided adding nearly 93.2 million tons of CO2 to the atmosphere. This is the equivalent to 25 coal plants not fired in one year or saving over 215 million barrels of oil from being burned. Learn more about LS Power’s sustainability strategy and outcomes here.

  • The projects will support California’s clean energy transition and help meet the area’s growing electric demand, which is driven by efforts such as expanding housing infrastructure, vehicle electrification, and economic development. The company has a proven track-record of success in new energy solutions, working closely with elected officials, local organizations, businesses, and residents to design projects that fit the community. LS Power has committed to strict cost and schedule guarantees for these projects that protect electric consumers from rising costs.
